Dengue is transmitted primarily by Aedes aegypti It is a cosmopolitan insect, found mainly in places of high human concentration. It lives inside the houses (under tables, chairs, cabinets etc) Feeding on plant sap. Only the female transmits disease when it bites a man in search of blood to mature the eggs. She attacks during the day, especially at dawn and late afternoon, preferably in the legs.
